NASCAR – Betting

Motor sports have gained increasing popularity over the last several years, gaining equal footing with other national pastime sporting events such as baseball, basketball, and football. Of all the motor sports, NASCAR is perhaps one of the most popular in the world. Given the widespread popularity and the excitement of the sport, many NASCAR fans like to place wagers on the outcome of the season, just as other sports bettors do on boxing, basketball, or hockey.

Different types of bets can be placed on the outcome of NASCAR racing events. Futures bets are popular to place early in the season. When placing a future bet, you might select the winner of a specific race. However, the futures bet may also be centered on which driver will win the Sprint Cup Series and the highly prized trophy. A points race occurs all season long and towards the end of the season, a Race for the Chase, begins. The winner of this chase will emerge as the champion driver.

The sooner your futures bet is placed in the season, the more lucrative the potential winnings can be. As the season unfolds and players jockey for position in the points standings, the odds makers adjust these odds and payout ratios. If you were to place a wager on a long shot to win the series and then they have a stellar season, your potential winnings could be very large. This is more so the case the earlier and more of a ‘long shot’ your driver was.

Matchup betting is another type of sports bet that can be used in NASCAR. Matchup betting is more than simply predicting who will win a race. When placing a matchup bet, you are betting on how one specific driver’s performance will compare to that of other drivers. Odds are determined by odds makers in order for the betting to occur. With matchup betting it is a good idea to avoid selecting the most popular drivers. These drivers typically are favored anyway and do not provide as good of a payoff as others.

Many websites include information regarding NASCAR. As with any type of sports betting, keeping tabs on the sport and any significant events is wise. This can help you make more informed choices regarding your sports bet picks.
